Brakenhale School

Medical Ethics Conference

A selection of our Sixth Form students had an enjoyable morning at St George's School (Ascot) attending the medical ethics conference. It was great to meet new people and share ideas through discussion and debate.

Students worked together in mixed groups with other local schools to debate a range of ethical topiscs such as the contraceptive pill, dental decay, vaccines and fertility treatment. The conference then focused on consent in medical ethics and procedures, and was led by a dental practitioner - Dr J Bennett, who concluded with a fascinating keynote talk. This will really support our students' learning within Health and Social Care in the future and it was an interesting way to learn about new concepts.
