PE Update

It’s been another busy period in PE, with the football season in full swing! Alongside our strong extra-curricular clubs, including regular basketball sessions with Reading Rockets, we've adapted well to the sports hall being out of use due to PPEs. Despite this, some of our favourites— trampolining and football—are still running!
Why not get an extra hour of physical activity? Whether it’s practice, something from lessons, or trying something new, there’s something for everyone!
Fixtures this term have been dominated by the football season!
Girls Football
Year 7 Girls have continued their impressive run, delivering their best performance yet to beat a strong Forest A team 3-2 in the County Cup Semi- Final—securing our first County Cup final in a decade! Well done, girls! Stay tuned for details on the final’s opponents, venue, and date.
Year 9 Girls still have some games left to play and continue to give their all for each other.
Boys Football
Year 11 Boys were unfortunately knocked out of the County Cup by a strong Furze Platt team. Despite the loss, they fought hard and made their opponents work for the win.
Their league campaign has been disrupted, with two games called off, but points were awarded, placing them top of the table. Depending on other results, they could still progress to the League Cup Semi-Finals by finishing second.
Year 10 Boys started with a 3-0 loss to rivals Edgbarrow but bounced back with a 1-1 draw against Charters, despite having only 11 players. They wrap up the season with fixtures away to LVS and home to Ranelagh.
Year 9 Boys have completed their fixtures and are awaiting the final standings.
Year 8 Boys began their league campaign with two narrow losses against Piggot and Desborough, both by a single goal. However, they have thrived in the County Cup, winning two matches and advancing to the Quarter-Finals against King’s Academy Binfield.
With an action-packed month behind us, there’s plenty more to look forward to after Easter! Football continues with a Greenshaw Learning Trust tournament for Year 7, 8, and 9 Boys at Blaise High School in Bristol at the end of March.
