World Book Day

The English department celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 6th March by dressing up as characters from the literature texts we teach, albeit symbolic in some cases, and by teaching a bespoke lesson to Years 7 and 8. Years 7-10 also completed a tutor time activity together to start the day. All students were gifted with a World Book Day voucher too.

World Book Day is a great opportunity to bring the importance of reading to the forefront. As we know, reading has a plethora of benefits - from developing the imagination, expanding vocabulary to enhancing critical thinking skills as well as learning about ourselves and the diverse world we live in. Everyone should read for pleasure as it not only builds character but is a great way to visit new places and meet new people.
