Sixth Form News

It has been a busy, yet rewarding term. We really appreciate and commend the efforts that students have put into their studies. We are officially two thirds of the way through the academic year – the time has flown by! Entering the spring season means that we are greeted with brighter mornings and later sunsets. This is certainly something to be grateful for and an indication that the warmer weather is slowly approaching. That said, we are not in ‘summer mode’ just yet, as exams are right around the corner!
Following the completion of their PPEs, the Year 13s enjoyed a celebration breakfast which was followed by their second motivational speaker. The session emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with a supportive group of people who uplift and encourage you, particularly during challenging times. The speaker shared personal experiences and powerful anecdotes, demonstrating how a strong support network can play a crucial role in achieving success. Students left feeling motivated, reminded that perseverance and a positive environment are key ingredients for success, both in their academic journey.
Departments have also been going the extra mile to support students by organizing revision workshop trips. Year 13s studying Business, Geography, Psychology, and Sociology had the chance to travel to London, where they attended engaging, subject-specific sessions designed to boost their exam performance. Tutor2U hosted cinema-based workshops, providing a unique, interactive environment where students developed their exam techniques and revisited core topics ahead of their 2025 exams.
These trips are just one of the many ways we continue to support our Year 13s as they work towards their goals. Many of our P16 staff are also giving up their time to run extra revision sessions over the Easter holidays.
End of Term in school Workshops
As we approach the end of term, it’s natural to feel tired and unmotivated. The long weeks of studying, deadlines, and commitments can take their toll, making it harder to stay focused. To help students push through and regain momentum, Miss Blundell hosted Reset, Refocus, and Own Your Attitude workshops. These sessions were designed to help students reset their mindset and stay motivated for the final term ahead. Sessions included activities like finding personal motivation, reframing negative thoughts, goal setting via growth mindset, and writing letters to one’s future self to boost accountability. This was an opportunity for students to refresh and finish strong!
Exciting times ahead! Sixth Form offer letters have now been sent out to Year 11 students who have applied to join our community in September. We are thrilled to be welcoming a new cohort of ambitious and hardworking students who are eager to take the next step in their academic journey with us. Once again, congratulations on your offers!
