Dear Parents and Carers
Every year for examination groups we have traditionally run “mock” examinations. The purpose of these examinations was to not only give students experience of taking formal examinations but also to afford them the practice of real papers.
Our experience over the last few years had shown us that where students experience not just sitting the paper but also the preparation for the examinations, they will take more out of it. With regard to internal examinations, if this experience is then followed up by structured feedback on their performance, guidance on revision work and the chance to retake any papers they have not done well on, then the impact is significantly higher. Furthermore, to enhance this experience students will have a ‘Results Day’ where they will collect their results in the same manner they do in the summer. This will occur on 18th December at 8.30.
We are, therefore, changing to this format in Year 11 and calling this process Pre-public examinations (PPEs). Please click the link below for further information .
