Year 8 Brakenhale students impressing celebrities at the weekend with polite and sensible behavior out and about in Bracknell – what lovely feedback to receive”.
I would just like to say what a credit two of our students were today. They found an iPhone 6 and a credit card outside of school and brought it to Student Reception. The owner was identified through the school data base and the property returned safely.
We would like to say what a credit these boys are to the school and we should be proud they are wearing our uniform.
Yesterday the 23rd of September 2015, we (Charley Camp and Charlie Wood) went to London to pick up an award for our hard work and success in our GCSE’s. At the beginning of our GCSE’s we were predicted C’s D’s and E’s at the end of year 11. The school intervened using PiXL methods during year 10 and 11. Charlie ended up with 6 A*-C grades including a B in Maths and Charley ended up with 10 A*-C’s including an A* in Maths and Further Maths. It started by leaving school all suited and booted at 11AM we got on the train to London Waterloo. We made our way to Westminster Central Hall for the award ceremony. It began with the PiXL choir sings a success song and then the awards began, they spoke to us about working hard and the success that is yet to come! Levi Roots was the special guest and presented us with our vouchers, he spoke about his experience on Dragons Den and about his passion for his company, he also told us how he messed up his figures on Dragons Den and yet he still got his deal:- truly inspirational. It was such an exciting experience- going up on stage, talking to Levi Roots, planning to get the train and going to Parliament square. The experience taught us that hard work does pay off and people will recognise when you do work hard.
Geography Trip to Lyndhurst
The Geography trip to Lyndhurst last week was a great success. The Year 11 students were tasked with finding out how Lyndhurst is effected by tourism and so completed traffic and pedestrian counts, land use maps and also an environmental quality assessment survey. All of this information has then been used and analysed to establish how severe the impacts of tourism are on this rural community. The Year 11’s behaviour was excellent, with locals commenting to staff about how smart and polite they all were. Following the fieldwork, the Year 11 Geographers worked all day Friday on the analysis and were brilliant in their application to the tasks set.
Well Done Year 11 Geographers!
