Dance update

Since January a group of our Year 10 dance students have been working on a project to build a partnership with BCDCY (Berkshire County Dance Company Youth), the 80collective and South Hill Park. They have worked incredibly hard every Wednesday after school (and even some Sundays) with choreographer Luke Brown (artistic founder of 80collective) to develop a dance piece that will be performed next Wednesday at ‘Pitch’, a totally new event at South Hill Park.

The event features a range of dance works by professional companies and the students will be opening it with a shared performance alongside BCDCY and the professional dancers from the 80collective. We are the only school involved in the event, several of our students from other year groups will also be performing as part of BCDCY after successfully auditioning and securing places. I can’t praise the students enough for their commitment and motivation, they have been fantastic and the result is a really high standard of challenging work.

If you would like to come and support students the event is on Wednesday 29th April at 7:30pm. The link to the event is

PE update

We wanted to share with you the successes of our Boy’s Football teams this season. The Under 12, 13 and 16 teams are all this year’s East Berkshire champions. The Under 16’s beat Edgbarrow in the Final 5-2 at Bracknell Town before the Easter break, the Under 13’s beat Maiden Erlegh School 3-0 in their Final at Ascot United on Wednesday. The Under 12’s completed the hat trick of cup final successes on Thursday 23th April beating Furze Platt School 4-2. The teams have swept aside some very illustrious and more privileged opposition in this years competitions and have been a credit to The Brakenhale School.
