key-stage-4-curriculum-header

At Brakenhale we offer a broad curriculum that addresses the expectations of the National Curriculum, starting in Year 7.  In Year 9 students choose the subjects they wish to take a Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) and they are issued with an options brochure to help them choose their courses.

At Key Stage 4 the emphasis remains on a broad and balanced curriculum designed to meet the needs and interests of the students.  All students follow a core programme that consists of studies in English, Maths, Science, Citizenship (PSHE) and PE.  In addition we offer a wide range of options which include Art & Design, Business Studies, Catering, Computer Science, Dance, Drama, French, Geography, Graphics, History, ICT, Media, Music, Photography, PE/Sport, Resistant Materials, Spanish and Textiles amongst others, some GCSE, some BTEC or other equivalent vocational qualifications.  This variety enables students to choose subjects and assessment arrangements that best suit their personal preferences and will maximise their achievement.
